The Department of Information Science and Engineering along with IQAC, MVJCE, have organized Phase-II of the AICTE-Sponsored Short Term Training Programme (STTP) on ‘Research Challenges and Emerging Trends in Ontology and Data Science for Deep Learning’, from 7th December to 12thDecember 2020. The purpose of this short-term training program was to enhance the skill set and knowledge of the faculty members, Research Scholars, and Industry professionals in areas like Bigdata, Data Mining, Machine Learning, Ontology, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. 87 participants from various academic institutions and industries registered for the programme.
Topics of the STTP:
The Phase-II of the STTP was inaugurated by Dr. P Mahabaleswarappa, Principal, MVJCE, on 7th December 2020. On behalf of the Management and the Institution, the Principal welcomed Vice Principal of MVJCE, COE & Registrar of MVJCE, Chief Guest of the STTP-Phase-II Dr.K.Vivekanandan, Registrar & Dean(Students), Professor, Dept. of CSE, Pondicherry Engineering College, Puducherry, all the participants and Resource Speakers to the Short-term Training Programme (STTP) on ‘Research Challenges and Emerging Trends in Ontology and Data Science for Deep Learning’. In the welcome address, Sir has mentioned that considering the present research interest areas, the topic of the training program is very apt. He added that Ontology is mainly concerned with organizing data into information and knowledge, using which we can solve various problems in our domain.
The Chief Guest of the STTP, Dr.K.Vivekanandan delivered a keynote session. In his keynote session, he has mentioned that Ontological Modeling can help the cognitive AI or machine learning model by broadening its’ scope. They can include any data type or variation and set each diver data to a specific task. Furthermore, it supports unstructured, semi-structured, or structured data format—thus enabling smoother data integration. It can include each aspect of the data modeling process, beginning as schemas at the initial level. Therefore, they can address the vast data used as input for machine learning training or spew as results.
