Chemical Engineering – Setting out to explore a field used more but known less

On 22.04.2022 from 10:00 AM to 12.20 PM at the Seminar Hall – 4, MVJCE, the Department of Chemical Engineering hosted a Guest Lecture on “Chemical Engineering- Setting out to explore a field used more but known less”. Anupama V Joshi, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, RVCE, Bangalore, was the event’s Guest Speaker. A total of 70 people from including students and faculty of MVJ College of Engineering attended the lecture.

About the Speaker
Anupama V Joshi is currently employed as an Assistant Professor at RVCE in Bangalore’s Department of Chemical Engineering. VTU, Belgaum, awarded her a B.E. and M. Tech. in Chemical Engineering, as well as a PG Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights from National Law School India University, Bangalore. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Heat Transfer Nanofluids for Solar Thermal Power Plants (STPPs) at VTU, Belgaum, under the supervision of Dr. Vinod Kallur, HOD, Chemical Engineering, RV College of Engineering, Bangalore. Heat Transfer Fluids and Nanotechnology, Computational Fluid Dynamics, and Chemical Process Design are some of her research interests. Anupama V Joshi’s research findings were also published in over three international journals and one international conference, and she was a recipient of a DST-TARE fellowship in 2018.

A Brief Account of the Lecture
The session began at 10.00 a.m., and was hosted by Ms. Manasa B N of the 8th Semester, who welcomed the guest speaker, as well as all students in the 6th and 8th semesters, and also faculty members from the Chemical Engineering Department. Dr. Mahabaleswarappa, Principal, MVJCE, gave the welcome address to start the session. He extended a warm greeting to the audience as well as the Guest Speaker. He emphasized the need of providing possibilities for Chemical Engineers in many industries for final and pre-final year students interested in pursuing a career in Chemical Engineering. Dr. M.A. Lourdu Antony Raj, Professor & Controller of Examinations, MVJCE also graced the occasion.

The lecture began at 10.15 a.m., with Anupama V Joshi presenting an informative session on “Chemical Engineering – Setting out to study a field used more but known less”, which included a detailed description of the various areas where Chemical Engineers can operate successfully. She also gave examples of how Chemical Engineers have progressed into many fields. Chemical Engineers can contribute their knowledge in a variety of growing areas, which were also explained.

The Speaker emphasized the significance of chemical engineers’ contributions in several fields. She had sparked an interest in higher education among the students, such as experimental research, making the appropriate arrangements for studying abroad, and passing the GATE exams. Finally, the speaker remarked about the vast scope of Chemical Engineers’ job and praised the students’ belief that Chemical Engineers may succeed in a variety of sectors. Following the lecture, the Speaker held a fantastic Q&A session in which she answered questions from the audience and explained student doubts.

Ms. Harshitha V, 8th semester of Chemical Engineering, gave a Vote of Thanks to the Management, Principal, COE, and Vice Principal of MVJCE for providing this opportunity to gain knowledge on the exposure of diverse areas for Chemical Engineers. The Principal, MVJCE offered a wonderful memento to the Guest, Anupama V Joshi as a token of gratitude. Guest Speaker, Anupama V Joshi, provided interesting and remarkable features of the potential for Chemical Engineers, which the event organizers are appreciative for. A special thanks to IT HELPDESK and the rest of the team for their technical assistance throughout the session.

Outcome of the Event
