MVJ College of Engineering (MVJCE) organized B.E. First Year Orientation Program at the commencement of the new batch for the academic year 2017-18 on 9th August 2017. The program would help students and parents to get familiarized with the institution, curricular and co-curricular activities, facilities, rules and regulations etc. Students from all over the country enthusiastically attended the Orientation Program and first day of the college. The ceremony was presided over by Dr. B N Suresh, President, INAE, Dr. N Gunasekaran, Principal, MVJ College of Engineering.
The program commenced with a formal address by Ms. Srijana Chettri, Assistant Professor, MBA Department, followed by a melodious and devotional invocation song. As a mark of triumph over darkness, Dr. B N Suresh, President, INAE, Dr. N Gunasekaran, Principal, MVJCE, lighted the lamp for an auspicious beginning.
Prof. M. Brindha, Vice Principal, MVJ College of Engineering extended a warm welcome to the gathering and highlighted the importance of humanity and good citizenship as results of good education. She emphasised on the importance of curriculum as tool for gathering knowledge.
The welcome address was followed by college presentation by Dr. N Gunasekaran, Principal MVJCE. Dr. N Gunasekaran focused on the talents and skills required by students in order to bridge the skill gaps needed in industries. He also introduced the students to the Institution’s Vision, Mission, Departments, Branches, Milestones, Committees, Collaborations and Faculty members and students’ achievements. Briefing was been given on the various events organized at department and institute level.
The college presentation was followed by introduction of the chief guest. Dr. Sneha Ravindra Kanade, Head of the Department – MBA introduced the Chief Guest Dr. B N Suresh, President, Indian National Academy of Engineering to the audience.
While addressing the gathering Dr B N Suresh motivated students to participate in the development of the country by developing themselves. He encouraged students to innovate, learn and inculcate thinking process by giving examples and quoting views of renowned scientists Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, Sir Isaac Newton and C V Raman. He urged students to set goals for success.
The session concluded with vote of thanks by Ms. Sonia, Head of the Department – Mathematics followed by National Anthem.
The Orientation program resumed after the refreshment break.
The session was resumed by a presentation by Mr. Khan, Chief Librarian, MVJCE.
Mr. Khan informed students about rules and regulations be followed inside the library premises. He also provided a detailed information about the various facilities which the students can avail in the library.
The library session was followed by session on laboratories and clubs of MVJCE by Dr. Sneha Ravindra Kanade, Head of the Department, MBA Department. She introduced the various clubs of MVJCE to the audience with relevant information. She elaborated the importance of various clubs as part of their learning process as students.
The session was followed by presentation on General facilities of the college by Dr. I Hameem Shanavas, Head of the Department – Electronics and Communication Engineering.
Dr. Hameem introduced the general facilities like hostel, sports and transport facilities. His presentation gave insights on rules and regulations of the hostel. He motivated students to participate in various sports activities available within the College Campus. His presentation also included the details about the College Bus facility provided by the college regarding various routes and timings.
The session was followed by a presentation on VTU rules and regulations by Prof M Brindha Vice Principal, MVJCE. Prof Brindha gave insights on CBCS Scheme which will be followed as per the VTU rules and regulations and code of conduct. Prof. Brindha presented criteria of Internal Assessment and allocation of Internal Marks and subsequent guidelines in detail.
The session was followed by lunch break. Post lunch, students reported to the respective departments with great enthusiasm and zeal.
