A Brief Account of the Lecture The session started with the welcome address by Dr. Mahabaleswarappa, Principal, MVJCE. He welcomed the online audience and the Guest Speaker. He underlined the necessity of the webinar session, and spoke about the significance of pollution control in the present era.

The Lecture started with a discussion on the pollution caused by the industries in India, and the pollutants emitted by them. The Lecture gave an insight into the equipment available for controlling the pollutants, and also presented the adverse effects on the economic growth of our country, caused by increased industrialization, urbanization, mechanization, use of fertilizers and pesticides in agriculture and mismanagement of disposing off human waste, especially in developing countries, where environmental laws are relatively less strict.

The Speaker stressed on the significance of developing advanced technology for controlling the pollutants. The topics covered were pollutants emitted from the industry, harmful effects of those pollutants and advanced technology adopted in industry to solve this problem. The Speaker put up a lot of experimental data and presented several points from advanced research, which kindled the interest of the participants. Finally, the Speaker concluded the presentation elaborating on the present research scenario.

After the presentation, a Q&A session was conducted, where the Speaker addressed the queries of attendees posted in the Q&A chat box in Microsoft teams.

The webinar session concluded with vote of thanks to the Management, Principal, COE and Vice principal of MVJCE, for providing this opportunity to create awareness in the field of pollution control. The event organizers are grateful to Guest Speaker Dr. B C Meikap for impressing upon the audience, the importance of controlling environmental pollution and for making them aware of the researches that are being conducted in this field. A special mention to ITHELPDESK and team for their technical support during the online session.

Outcome of the Event

The webinar enabled the attendees to strengthen their knowledge about pollution control. It gave them a realistic picture of the present scenario, vis-a-vis pollution. The session also generated an interest around the broad array of research opportunities available for Chemical Engineers, to develop efficient techniques to mitigate this problem. The attendees were gifted with information and knowledge about industry needs, latest technical appraisals and research related to this field.
