INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY – 2018

The International Yoga Day was organized by NSS unit, MVJCE on 21st June 2018 at 2:45 pm in Smt. Rajalakshmi Seminar Hall and about 250 faculty members and students participated. The event started with invocation song by students Ms. Priyanka and Shobhita, seeking the blessing of Lord Ganesha. The Dignitaries present on dais were Mr. D Shrinivasan, Professor, Aeronautical Department MVJCE; Mr.Muralidhara R, Associate Professor and NSS program officer, MVJCE; Mr. Jagadeesha Naik P, Physical Education Director, MVJCE. The dignitaries then proceeded towards lighting of lamp. Ms. Shreyanka S Murari, Assistant Professor, Dept of Civil, welcomed the chief guest and gathering. She laid emphasis on the importance of conducting International Yoga Day and the benefits the students and staff members would get. Further she explained that yoga is an invaluable gift to the world given by Indian Ancient Tradition. She addressed that yoga embodies unity of mind and body, thought and action, restraint and fulfillment, harmony between man and nature. Yoga is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with oneself. Chief Guest Mr. D Shrinivasan, Professor, Aeronautical dept, in his speech highlighted the importance of yoga and the way to cultivate habit of yoga in our day to day life.

The program started with Yoga training session by certified yoga trainer Mrs. Apoorva Kiran, Assistant Professor, Civil Dept., with simple asanas such as Pranayama, Body stretching, Vrikshasana, Trikonasana, Kursiasana, Naukasana, Paschimottasana, Sukhasan and Shavasana with Meditation. The asanas taught were helpful for staff members and students to relax their body and mind. After the session, Mr. Muralidhara R, NSS Program Officer, extended gratitude to Mrs. Apoorva Kiran for the effective session.

The program concluded with Vote of Thanks given by Ms. Shreyanka S Murari, Assistant Professor, Dept of Civil.
