Orientation Program – 2016

MVJ College of Engineering organized Orientation Program at the commencement of the new batch for the academic year 2016-17 on 10^th August 2016. The program would help students and parents to get familiarized with the institution, curricular and co-curricular activities, facilities, rules and regulations etc. Students from all over the country enthusiastically attended the Orientation Program and first day of the college. The program was conducted in two segments with exclusive focus on parents and students.

The program commenced with a welcome note from Ms. Hida Prem, followed by a melodious and devotional invocation song. As a mark of triumph over darkness, Prof. M. Brindha, Vice Principal and Dr. Satheesh Babu, Registrar lighted the lamp for an auspicious beginning. Formal address was delivered with a mention of dynamic management, dedicated professors and outstanding achievements of the institution. The formal address was followed by Vice Principal’s address.

Prof. M. Brindha extended a warm welcome to all the parents and shared glimpses of 34 years of legacy of the institution. The session was very informative with focus on establishment, courses, holistic development, and infrastructure and world class education. The highlights of the address were various initiatives by Centre of Excellence like corporate tie-ups with technical giants like Quest Global, National Instruments, Lab view, Infosys Campus connect program and many more. The students and faculties carve their niche through research and development activities carried out in collaboration with DRDO, ISRO, GTRE and other world class organizations.

Prof. M. Brindha also informed parents about student centric activities like personality development programs, technical clubs, events and best practices of the institution. It was also informed that the institution strictly follows the policy of anti-ragging policy to protect the emotional health of the students. The parents were also informed about the curriculum and the eligibility criteria for the students to graduate to the next level.

The parent’s gathering was bade adieu with a humble vote of thanks.

The next segment of the program was exclusively arranged for the new students. Program commenced with a welcome note from  Ms. Hida Prem. She shared her enriching experience as student of the institution to the new-comers. She also assured that all the seniors will lend a helping hand to make this journey enthusiastic and enriching. This note was followed by address from Prof M. Brindha, Vice Principal.

She extended a warm welcome to all the students with sharing glance of the achievement of the institution. She also emphasized on nurturing students to be people of character and caliber. The address introduced state of art campus, achievements of the college, student centric activities, ongoing researches, student’s achievement etc. A detailed view of all the departments was presented to make students aware of academic activities of each stream. Prof. M. Brindha also mentioned about tie-ups with renowned organizations, IITs, NITs and their relevance and rewarding benefits. She also introduced students to JEDI – Joy of engineering design and innovation program, Entrepreneurship Development Cell, IIPC – Industry Institution partnership cell, Technical Clubs, VERTEX, SWAYAM – Annual Cultural Fest, NSS activities, and MVJ Memorial Cricket tournament.

Following the address was an informative session – Life at MVJCE by Dr. Satheesh Babu, Registrar. He congratulated all the students for the new beginning. Dr. Satheesh Babu shared the vision and mission of the institution. In his session, students became conversant with Dr. M. V. Jayaraman Gold Medal, patents filled by students and faculties, choice based credit system of the curriculum, infrastructure, Sports and Gym facilities, Transportation and so on. He also informed students about rules and regulations of the college. He also discussed various about various events and activities undertaken by the college.

Followed by the session, Mr. M.A Khan, Chief Librarian shared information regarding the college library. He humbly started the session with a tribute to Dr. M. V. Jayaraman, Founder of the Institution. He informed the students about the procedure to access the library, rules and regulations, systematic indexing system of the library. He also introduced the process to access Digital Library and make best out of the world class resources.

Followed by Mr. Khan’s session, Prof. K. Ravi, Director-Training and Placements, took over the session to inform the students about the training and placement cell. He informed the students that more than 700 companies have visited the campus and immense opportunities are provided by the institution for great start of the career. He emphasized on student’s active participation in the technical club activities and enhancing knowledge base through reading professional content.
