A group of 38 students pursuing 4th and 7th semester chemical engineering, along with two faculties visited Cipla Industries, Virgonagar Industrial Area, Old Madras Road, Bangalore.

Upon arrival, the students were warmly welcomed by Mr. Clifford Pinto, Manager, Cipla Industries Virgonagar Plant. He provided an informative overview of Cipla Industries, its history, mission, and significance in the pharmaceutical sector. Sri. Manjunath, Plant Head highlighted the plant's contribution to the healthcare industry and its commitment to quality and innovation. Mr. Satish Datla, Head of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), took the stage next. He gave an engaging presentation on the importance of EHS in pharmaceutical manufacturing. Mr. Datla discussed the various safety protocols, measures, and systems in place to ensure the well-being of employees and the environment. His presentation emphasized the vital role that chemical engineers play in maintaining a safe and sustainable production environment.

An alumnus of MVJ, now working as an EHS Engineer at Cipla, Virgonagar Mr. Tejus, shared his experiences and expertise in safety aspects within the pharmaceutical industry. His presentation provided valuable insights into the practical implementation of safety measures, the challenges faced, and the continuous improvement initiatives undertaken by Cipla Industries. This session was particularly insightful for the students, as it offered a real-world perspective from someone who had walked the same path as them. Mr. Shubam, from the Human Resources department, interacted with the students, shedding light on career opportunities and growth prospects at Cipla Industries for chemical engineering graduates. He discussed the company's recruitment process, internship opportunities, and the skills and attributes they look for in potential candidates.

Visit of the Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) Process:

The highlight of the visit was the guided tour of Cipla's Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) process area. Students were taken through the ZLD system, where they observed the cutting-edge technology and engineering solutions employed to minimize water waste and protect the environment. The practical demonstration of this sustainable approach left a lasting impression on the students and highlighted the importance of innovation in chemical engineering.

The one-day industrial visit to Cipla Industries, Virgonagar Plant, was an enriching and insightful experience for the chemical engineering students of MVJ college of Engineering. The programme, coordinated by Mr. Clifford Pinto and facilitated by industry experts, provided students with a valuable opportunity to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application in the pharmaceutical manufacturing sector. The visit not only enhanced their understanding of chemical engineering in a real-world context but also inspired them to pursue careers focused on safety and sustainability in the industry. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Cipla Industries for their hospitality and for sharing their expertise with our students. Such interactions are invaluable in shaping the future of aspiring chemical engineers. We thank the management of MVJCE for providing the necessary support needed for conducting this event.
