Vertechx 2016

MVJ College of engineering has organised the 6th national level technical fest Vertechx 6.0 on 18th and 19th of March 2016. Vertechx is a technical fest of MVJCE with the tagline “A Summit Of Innovation And Technology’. The aim of the fest was to provide a platform for budding engineers from all over the country to showcase their technical flair .With 12 departments encompassing myriad fields of technology and management, this tech carnival offered two days of thorough indulgence to the technically inclined. Wide variety of events at a higher level was conducted to exploit and show case the technical abilities and skills of the students around the nation. This fest also gave opportunity to the students to bag a large prize money worth of Rs.3Lakhs.

VerTechX 6.0 was inaugurated by the honorable chief guest, Mr. Sumant Pathak, Ex-Aerospace, HAL, Bangalore. Delivering the inaugural address, Mr. Sumant Pathak, profusely appreciated the management and students, for their efforts in organizing this technical fest. He encouraged the audience, making all realize that the failure is the stepping stone for success and not to ponder over the failure instead try again. He gave call to the students to focus on the application of the concepts and make learning an enjoyable experience. He mentioned “Flying is the sixth degree of freedom which you get in air”. He also appreciated women being forward in all sectors and wished all participating teams’ a very fruitful learning through this event. Prof. K Tyagarajan, R & D Director, MVJCE felicitated the chief guest. Prof. M. Brinda, vice principal MVJCE, presided over the function. The heads of the departments, faculty and student fraternity graced the occasion.

Among the different events conducted, Robotics (age of Ultron) is an event where students had to build an image processing robot and use the robot to hit the target with the source leading to a gain of technical fun. The event received a very good response by participants and was indeed challenging for the students.

The day one, witnessed the robot race competition with different terrains and in the form of ‘MVJ’ and the second day’s schedule included the autonomous Maze solver Robot’s. There were around 40 participants and a huge crowd had gathered to witness this exciting competition. Dr. Muralidhara Krishna, scientist E and was the jury for the Age Of Ultron events.

Live the quarter a mile themed GoKart was the first of ever in the history of Bangalore colleges, received an exemplary response from participants. Thrilling driving experience satisfied students’ craze for auto motor vehicles. The Go Kart event started with professional rounds such as Technical Inspection, Assembly and Disassembly, Acceleration and Braking test on the first day. On the second day, it continued with Autocross and Skitpad test and finally ended with a sporty and dynamic endurance test. The “wow factor” of the event was the brilliant Kart stunts demonstrated by the female participant which mesmerized the crowd. The best professional and mind blowing stunts were also performed by the winning team driver Afzal from MVJ College of engineering. An award was given for the best Design Innovation for the Squadron Team from MVJ College of Engineering.

The chief guest and Guest of Honour Ex-Director GTRE Dr. K. V. Muralidharan and the Bosch Chairman witnessed and judged the event.

Developing an APP and using the App has become a craze among the youth. The Social App development competition was the brainchild of three departments (Computer Science and Engineering, Information Science and Engineering and Masters in Computer Application) collectively. The day one spent on the presentation of different outstanding ideas of the participants. To name a few, there were ideas such as ‘Icode’-to provide an environment with the ability to deliver the programming codes the user wants and ‘Medico’-deliver medicines before expiry to untapped areas from a team named ‘Dexter’, a crime prevention app -“BCP” etc. Helping the needy by avoiding mass food wastage in large social gatherings was another carefully developed idea. A social application called ‘In College’ received a cheer from the students as; it is able to connect students and faculty members from different colleges in different cities.

Mr.Mahesha N, Director-R&D, Hewlett Packard, Bangalore, was the judge of event. The winners were decided after a lot of scrutinized analysis on their app’s relevance in the society, problem solving ability and uniqueness.

Just a rather very intelligent system (J.A.R.V.I.S) is a radio controlled aircraft plane with ability to deliver the payload which makes the students to think of the advancements in aviation technology. The first round of J.A.R.V.I.S was to perform some maneuvering by the teams. Few teams successfully flew their RC planes and landed it safely and few saw the crash. Dropping the payload at the given target was the second and final round to all qualified teams. It was a visual treat to the eyes of viewers to watch the RC planes fly, performing all the maneuvers such as roll, inside loop, hammer head and inverted flight etc. The air show was also performed by ASTRA club of Aeronautical Engineering department using quadcopter, UAV. J.A.R.V.I.S was one of the unique events held for the very first time with the task of dropping the payload at the given target. It had 10 teams encompassing 4 members in a team. Mr.Sumant Pathak, Ex-Aerospace, HAL, Bangalore was the judge of the competition.

The valedictory programme of VerTechX 6.0 was held on 19th March, 2016 at 3.00PM in the Rajalakshmi Seminar Hall.
