ENGINEER’S DAY CELEBRATION – 2020

The 53rd Engineer’s Day celebration was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering, MVJCE, to commemorate the 159th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, on 15th September 2020 at 3:00 PM, in Seminar Hall 6. Around 50 faculty members from all the Engineering Departments participated, maintaining social distancing and wearing masks to ensure safety.

The event started with the arrival of Dr. P Mahabaleswarappa (Principal, MVJCE) and Heads of all the Engineering Departments. The function proceeded with the welcome address delivered by Mrs. Apoorva Kiran, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, welcoming the Principal Dr. P Mahabaleswarappa, Heads of all the Departments and the gathering. Dr. P Mahabaleswarappa addressed the gathering, highlighting the significance of Engineer’s Day celebrations, giving interesting and fascinating facts about Sir M Visvesvaraya, the gem among human beings. It was indeed very inspiring to learn about Sir M V’s life. A short documentary on the life and work of Sir M Visvesvaraya made the audience understand him better and look up to him in awe and admiration.

The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mrs. Apoorva Kiran, extending gratitude to the Principal Dr. P Mahabaleswarappa and Vice Principal Prof. Brindha M for their constant support and encouragement in organizing such events, Prof Muralidhara R, Head of Department of Civil Engineering for his valuable suggestions and cooperation, and the supporting coordinator Mr. Thilak Gowda N, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering. She also thanked the faculty of various Departments, non-teaching staff and technicians for their presence.

Outcome of the Event:

The event was organized to commemorate the birthday of Bharat Ratna Sir M Visvesvaraya, thereby understanding the significance of celebrating Engineer’s Day. The event gave an insight into some interesting facets of Sir M V’s life.
