The Inauguration programme of the AI & ML Club TENSOR was organized by the Department of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, on 28th June 2022, from 10:00 am to 12:50 pm, at Dr. M. V Jayaraman Auditorium. Mr. Aniket Amdekar, General Manager – Cyber Defence Education, Great Learning, was the Chief Guest for the event. The event was anchored by AI & ML students Ms. Shruthi and Ms. Deepikaa A. The programme began on a pleasant note, with an invocation song by students Ms. Saraswati Aiyar and Ms. Sai Swaroopa, followed by a heartfelt welcome address by Ms. Srishti Karanth. The programme was presided over by Dr. P. Mahabaleswarappa (Principal, MVJCE), Dr. M Brindha (Vice Principal, MVJCE), Dr. Lourdu Antony Raj (COE), Prof. Kumar (Registrar) and Prof. Tamilarasi (HOD – CSE & AI/ML).

The inauguration of Tensor Club was attended by students of Second Year AI & ML and CSE, and First Year AI & ML. Mr. Rishab Rajesh introduced the Chief Guest to the audience, speaking about his successful career journey and remarkable achievements. Our constant guidance provider and supporter, our respected Principal, then proceeded to address the gathering, motivating us like he always does.

The Chief Guest Mr. Aniket Amdekar and our Principal then proceeded to unveil the logo of the Tensor Club, as the entire auditorium cheered.

It is important for a club to have clear goals and ideologies right at its inception, in order to set a standard and a goal for the years to come. Student members of the Club, Ms. Meghana Patnala, Mr. Vinay B. V. and Mr. Atharsh. M. S. introduced the prospects and principles of the Club, through a presentation which shed light, among other things, on the reason why the Club has been named Tensor. The audience interacted with Ms. Meghana Patnala, as she questioned them whether they had had any real time experience with applications using Artificial Intelligence.

She then proceeded to introduce the office bearers in each department of the Club. Every Club is organized and headed by a Student Body, and the Tensor Club Student Body comprises Mr. Utkarsh Suneela, Mr. Pavan R and Ms. Deepika A. To inculcate new skills, and organize hands-on workshops and projects, we have the Research and Development sector of the Club, with Mr. Vinay B. V, Ms. Ria Megan Picardo, Ms. Sufia and Ms. Saraswati Aiyar as office bearers. The Technical Sector aims to help members gain technical knowledge by making the most of the utilities available. This team includes Mr. Jeevan Aaron Joseph, Ms. Tanisha Stephen, Mr. Siddharth Srinivasan and Mr. Rishab Rajesh. A very important sector in today’s social media driven world is the Design Media and Marketing sector that is responsible for taking up the member’s ideas and bringing them to life using their professional skills. The projects and activities of the Club are promoted by the exceptional marketing skills of this team. Ms. Shruti Reddy, Mr. Joel Machado, Ms. Srishti Karanth, Mr. Nivin Mathew, Mr. Vikram Aditya and Mr. Hemanth BA are members of this team.

Once the office bearers were introduced, the stage was taken over by Mr. Vinay B. V. who explained about the course and the objectives of the Club. The esteemed Chief Guest Mr. Aniket Amdekar was then invited to deliver his talk on Artificial Intelligence and its career prospects. A successful toastmaster himself, the Speaker held the attention of the audience, throughout his insightful talk. Mr. Aniket Amdekar briefed the audience about the various concepts on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, through real time examples, connecting AI with cyber security. He also explained about the skills required for an AI engineer.

To ensure that the students had gained valuable inputs from the Lecture, a Quiz on AI was conducted. Students answered promptly and correctly.

Every event, no matter how joyful, has to come to an end. The vote of thanks was proposed by Ria Megan Picardo. She thanked the Management for its constant guidance and support, the Chief Guest for sparing his valuable time to share his experience and knowledge with the students, and lastly the audience for being receptive and enthusiastic.

The Club members and staff hope that the Tensor Club, which joins the other legendary Clubs of MVJCE, will have a fruitful existence.

Outcome of the Event

The students understood how the Tensor Club would serve as a platform for building the career of an AI/ML Engineer. Overall, it was a very informative session.
