The autonomous syllabus of our Mechanical Engineering course has been framed as per the National Education Policy, as well as AICTE guidelines and VTU framework, to stay aligned with the changing needs of Industry and society. The Curriculum has been framed by incorporating the suggestions of eminent people from Industry and academia. The syllabus has basic science courses, professional core courses, integrated professional core courses, professional electives, open electives, and ability enhancement courses, with a credit structure of 160 credit points.

Apart from the Professional Core courses of Materials & Manufacturing, and Design & Thermal streams, Ability Enhancement courses such as Spreadsheet for engineers, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances, Design Thinking, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Machine Learning (ML) for Mechanical Engineers have also been included in the syllabus for enhancing the career growth potential of our Mechanical Engineering graduates. These courses provide a comprehensive Multidisciplinary education to students, in line with the guidelines of NEP.

NEP lays a lot of emphasis on honing the skillsets of students. Latest courses such as Electric & Hybrid Vehicles Technology, Design of Experiments and Nano Technology are offered as electives, for enhancing the knowledge and skillsets of students. The syllabus has Experiential Learning Components, NPTEL Video Links, and Practical Applications of the course content, to expose students to both the theoretical and practical aspects of Mechanical Engineering. The Curriculum has been designed in line with the AICTE requirements, comprising of Course Objectives, and Course Outcomes mapped with Program Outcomes.

The course content aligns with the vision of NEP, keeping in mind the holistic development of Mechanical Engineers, encouraging creativity and out-of-the-box thinking. Our graduates are industry-ready and equipped to face the competitive global environment. The aim of NEP is to create engineers who possess strength of character and social-consciousness.
