The Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Department of Information Science and Engineering organized an FDP on “Networks & Recent Trends in Optimizations Techniques for Engineering problems on Cloud” in Seminar Hall 4. The event started at 9:30 am and concluded at 03.30 pm on 19.08.2023.

Speaker at the Event: Mr. Kalmesh Joshi

Title: Principal Advisor – EBTS Cyber Security, Cloud, IT Operations, Mindtree

Mr. Kalmesh Joshi brings extensive technical evangelism experience in supporting research and development efforts for new products and applications, promoting existing products, and exploring new applications for current products. He is known for his team-oriented approach, effectively collaborating with employees at all levels within cross-functional teams.

The session began with an introduction by Prof. Sushmitha M N, who welcomed the faculty to the program and presented the Chief Guest of the Program.

The guest began the session by focusing on the fundamental ideas of networking, as well as network security and optimization approaches utilized in the networking domain. The major subjects covered within the FDP program include network security, different forms of risks, malware, accessible security tools for avoiding threats, and the importance of optimization approaches in the networking area. He also expanded on issues such as malware detection methodologies, malware, and malware types. Malware is any software that is purposely meant to disrupt a computer, server, client, or computer network, as well as antivirus and its progression.

The following significant topics were also covered at the session: What is cloud computing, kinds of virtualization, the cloud’s use of virtualization, how do cloud-based IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS work? The seminar covered security concerns at various cloud layer depths, virtualization security concerns and the role of optimization strategies in cloud computing.

Query Session:

Mr. Prakash Raj, Software Professional, SAP Labs asked on recent trends in Cloud security and the optimization techniques tools. The recent trends and research areas in the cloud optimization were also taken back by the participants through this FDP.

At the end of the session, participants were asked to provide feedback on the session. We received positive feedback regarding the session’s content, delivery methodology, and its impact on the subject matter. Finally, Mr. Kumar R, Assistant Professor, Department of ISE, MVJCE, Bengaluru, delivered vote of thanks. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the principal guest and also complimented the University for pushing the faculty to participate in and arrange the faculty development program. Finally, he thanked everyone who came out and helped make the event a success.

The event was deemed participatory and effective by to the attendees. They acquired knowledge about various network security and cloud computing research topics and were made aware of the importance of safeguarding their personal information. The FDP participants gained a heightened awareness of the significance of research in the fields of network security, cloud computing, ethical hacking, and various technologies. FDP provided delegates with the opportunity to ask questions as well as share thoughts and information on the most recent and finest security solutions and services available through conversations. The FDP outcomes are summarized here:
