Dr. Krushna Chandra Gouda, giving a lecture on ‘Mathematics in Science and Technology’ at MVJCE.

The chief guest Dr. Krushna Chandra Gouda started his lecture with a motivation quote “Don’t worry about remembering. Just try to understand important points. Write, ruminate, pace, do what it takes to understand. Don’t memorize”. He provided an overview of mathematical modeling and highlighted its advantages, citing examples such as weather forecast models and a malaria detection model. He encouraged students to apply mathematical modeling to address traffic issues in Bengaluru. Additionally, he briefly introduced the rainfall prediction model at CSIR 4Pi and invited students to visit the facility.

Later on, he introduced the audience to the Fibonacci sequence and its importance in real life. He also spoke about the usage of recurrence relation. He gave a brief introduction to the concept of golden ratio and physical importance of golden ratio. He addressed the gathering about the importance of Descriptive statistics, Sampling model, ANOVA, Regression analysis, Data visualization in various branches of Engineering. He introduced students to an autonomous robot fish, highlighting the integration of mathematics, AI, and mechanical engineering. He also delved into the mathematics behind social media networks and introduced the audience to real-world machine learning applications. The guest lecture concluded with a discussion on Chandran 3 and other ISRO projects.

After the presentation, Q&A session was conducted, where the Guest Speaker addressed the queries of the attendees.

The session concluded with vote of thanks by Deepika from K section.

Outcome of the Event

The Lecture enabled the students to enhance their knowledge of Mathematics in Science and Technology. This will help them develop interest to learn the subject more thoroughly. It will also encourage the students to explore and understand the need for Mathematical modelling in their respective Engineering branches.
