Mr. Bhaskar Sharma presented a Guest Lecture on ‘Water Treatment – Science and Application’ on 23^rd June, 2022, at Rajalakshmi Seminar Hall. The Lecture was on different types of impurities, the sources of these impurities present in water, and various treatment methods and specifications for purifying water. Among the various categories of treatment, we have the municipal treatment, domestic treatment and industrial water treatment methods. Mr. Bhaskar Sharma explained in detail about ion exchange method, reverse osmosis method, and various membrane-based treatment methods. Students learnt about the various types of filters that are used commercially for filtering water, and about some more advanced treatment methods like the UV treatment method. The Lecture was very interesting and informative. The highlight of the Lecture was the explanation on various treatment methods like the RO water system design, its operating parameters and operating methods. The Lecture ended with a question-and-answer session, where the doubts of students were cleared by the Guest Speaker.

Outcome of the event

At the end of the session, the students understood clearly the importance of water treatment – it is also a part of their syllabus.
