CURRICULUM
  • B.E. First year curriculum at MVJCE aligns with NEP 2020 guidelines and  is designed to lay a strong foundation in core scientific and technical principles while also nurturing essential skills like communication, problem-solving, and teamwork. It serves as a bridge between school-level education and specialized engineering disciplines, preparing students for deeper learning in subsequent semesters.
Vision and Mission

Our Vision

Our vision is to nurture the students for their profession and to impart technology and processes for converting their ideas into real life applications.

Our Mission

  • To develop the department into the best supporting department with the best staff and other infrastructure.
  • To provide the best training to the student and to produce good result in university examination.
  • To promote research activity in the department in chemical science with exploring the funding by National/International   agencies.
Laboratories
Engineering chemistry laboratory

Engineering Chemistry laboratory of MVJCE has all the necessary equipment for conducting the Engineering Chemistry lab course for first and second semester lab course.  The laboratory houses traditional equipment including glassware, weighing balance centrifuge, heating mantles, water bath and ovens. The calibration and maintenance of the laboratory is done on a regular basis. Apart from the regular lab sessions, the existing facilities are also used for research purposes by the students and faculties. The basic focus of the laboratory sessions is to make the students gain practical knowledge to co-relate with the theoretical studies. The main objective of Engineering Chemistry lab is to give students hands on experience on practical concepts of chemistry discussed in the theory session.

Engineering Chemistry laboratory (Lab 1 ) is equipped with various instruments used to conduct experiments, analyze materials, and study chemical processes. It provides hands-on experience to students , allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge and develop practical skills in chemistry . Following is the list of  instruments available in instrumentation lab :

  • pHmeter
  • Conductometer
  • Colorimeter
  • Potentiometer
  • Viscometer

The Engineering Chemistry Lab (Lab 2) complements the theoretical concepts taught in Engineering Chemistry by providing hands-on experience in chemical analysis, synthesis, and volumetric techniques—specifically, conducting various types of titrations for estimating relevant substances. The lab fosters an understanding of the chemical principles underlying engineering materials and processes, which are essential across disciplines.

The aim of chemistry R & D laboratory is to promote research activities in chemistry. This research center is approved by VTU, Belagavi with one student pursuing Ph.D in the field of nanomaterials synthesis and its applications in photocatalysis . The Lab  has enough facility to carry out wet chemistry synthesis. R and D lab is also well equipped with sophisticated instruments like sonicator, salt spray chamber  , magnetic stirrer , centrifuge ,  hot air oven etc.

Departmental Club

OBJECTIVE OF THE CLUB:

Department of chemistry formed a club “ CHEM-LIFE” to nurture and develop innovative ideas and to inculcate scientific approach and foster scientific spirit among budding engineers The club was introduced with an idea of enhancing scientific learning through   making model , poster presentation ,conduction of quiz and paper  .

Objectives

  • To promote an interest in the field of chemistry and stimulate scientific curiosity in general.
  • To promote the importance of chemistry in everyday life.
  • Role of chemistry in monitoring and protecting the environment.
  • Application of chemistry in healthcare.
  • Learning chemistry with fun and joy.
  • To create awareness on hazardous chemicals
  • Relevance of chemistry in daily life.
