On Saturday, September 23rd, 2023, MVJ College of Engineering hosted its annual Alumni Gathering in the illustrious Dr. M V Jayaraman Auditorium. This event was organized to facilitate, consolidate, and coordinate alumni activities, serving as a platform for alumni to reconnect, celebrate their successes, and reminisce about their time at the college.
The day began with alumni arriving at the college by 9:00 a.m., where they were warmly welcomed by our dedicated registration team. After registration, they embarked on a nostalgic campus tour, revisiting the familiar locations where they had once pursued their studies and witnessing the remarkable developments that had occurred since their time here.
The Alumni Gathering commenced with an invocation song performed by Mr. Sanjeev front Dhvani Club. The event hosts, Mr. Siva and Mr. Sameer fourth- and first-year students respectively and also part of Sahithya club, extended a warm welcome to our distinguished guests, including the Chief Guest, Mr. C V Krishna Reddy, an alumnus from the Department of Civil Engineering, Class of 1991, and Resident Engineer at Sattra Group. He was joined by Dr. V Suresh Babu, Principal, Dr. M Brindha, Vice Principal, Dean of Research Dr. A C Niranjanappa, and Dean of Academics Dr. Srinivas L Gombi, who took their places on the dais.
Our Vice Principal, Dr. M Brindha, extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest and all the alumni who had taken the time to attend the gathering despite their busy schedules. Principal Dr. V Suresh Babu then presented the college report, highlighting the numerous milestones achieved in the past year and outlining the remarkable accomplishments of both the faculty and students. The report provided an in-depth insight into the various steps taken by the institute to foster the development of students, faculty, and the college as a whole.

The Chief Guest, in his address, expressed gratitude for the opportunity and delved into his own memories of life on the MVJ College of Engineering campus. Mr. C V Krishna Reddy stressed the importance of core branches like Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering in shaping the future. He also discussed how alumni can contribute to creating job opportunities for current students. After the Chief Guest delivered their address, the event unfolded with a dynamic sequence of performances. The Dhwani team kicked things off with a musical performance, setting the stage for Nithyatrix, the college’s dance club, who showcased a mesmerizing Bharatnatyam performance. To add a touch of levity, an engaging game of “Trivia” was organized for the alumni, featuring random questions about their college days that ignited enthusiastic participation.
Following this, Team Raaghabhinaya, the Theater and Production Club of MVJCE, captivated the audience with a thought-provoking mime presentation. Then, MADMONKS, the college’s dance team, took the stage, delivering an exhilarating performance that electrified the atmosphere.

To keep the energy levels high, an interactive activity ensued, where participants passed balls to the rhythm of a lively song playing in the background. When the music ceased, the individual holding the ball was tasked with answering a question about their college days, infusing the gathering with a sense of liveliness and enjoyment. A video collage of old photographs was presented, taking the alumni on a journey back to their golden days. Several alumni were invited on stage to share their cherished memories of college life with the gathered audience.
The evening’s highlight was the captivating solo song performances by alumni Rajdeep Dutta from the 2001 batch of the Department of ECE and Mithilesh Kumar alumnus from Department of Computer Science, Class of 1991. This was followed by heartwarming memory-sharing sessions, where alumni Mr.Somarajeshwara (Class of 2000,Department of Mechanical Engineering), Mr.Chandrakanth (Class of 2000,Department of Computer Science Engineering), and Mr. Ganesh (Class of 1989, Department of Mechanical Engineering) reminisced about their college days and stressed the importance of giving back to their alma mater.

The grand finale of the event featured the presentation of the Distinguished Alumni Awards. Dean of Research Dr. A C Niranjanappa and Dean of Academics Dr. Srinivas L Gombi had the honor of bestowing these awards. These awards celebrated the exceptional achievements of these alumni in their respective fields.

The Alumni Gathering concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Divya Sugathan, Alumni Coordinator. She expressed gratitude to the alumni for their presence, making the event truly special and memorable. She also extended her thanks to the various organizers of the event, including the teaching and non-teaching staff, as well as the enthusiastic student volunteers, whose hard work and dedication made the event possible. Special appreciation was also extended to the college’s management for their support and guidance, which contributed to the resounding success of Alumni Gathering 2023. The event concluded with a group photo session, capturing the camaraderie and memories shared during this memorable day.
