A Guest Lecture on Industrialization and its Impact on Environment and Society was organized by the Department of Chemical Engineering, MVJCE on August 14, 2023, from 10.30 AM to 12.30 PM in the seminar hall 5, MVJCE. The Guest Speaker for the event was D.R. Kumaraswamy, Former member secretary, of Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, Bangalore. The lecture was attended by 86 participants from inside (faculty and students) of MVJCE.

D.R. Kumaraswamy, Former member secretary, Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, Bangalore. He has 35 years of experience in the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, Bangalore.
A Brief Account of the Lecture
The session started with a welcome address by Ashika, a Student, Department of Chemical Engineering. She emphasized the necessity of the Guest lecture with awareness of industrialization and its impact.
Guest Lecture started with a discussion on the day-to-day activities due to which Industrialization is created in various fields. The effect of Industrialization on our Society and environment. Industrialization creates havoc and it’s a matter of major concern. The guest discussed the causes and sources of different kinds of Industrialization. During the lecture, it was discussed about the major threats to society due to Industrialization.

The Speaker stressed the causes of Industrialization and how impacting environment. He also shared actual data of pollution caused by industries area wise in Karnataka. Finally, the speaker concluded the presentation by elaborating on the present scenario and major threats related to it.
After the presentation, a Q&A session was conducted where the Speaker addressed the queries of attendees. The speaker gave chocolates to students on their right answer to question asked by him during the session.
The lecture concluded with a vote of thanks given by Prof. Megala (HOD incharge) Chemical engineering department to the MVJ management, Principal, CoE of MVJCE for providing this opportunity to gain knowledge on the Export and Import of Chemicals and its allied products. The event organizers express their gratitude to Guest Speaker D.R. Kumaraswamy for delivering an informative and impressive presentation on the significant environmental challenges arising from increased industrialization, which is a matter of great concern. He eloquently explained the importance of environmental sustainability for our society. Mr. Kumaraswamy effectively raised awareness among the students and discussed possible solutions to mitigate the impact of industrialization on the environment. The outcome of the Event:
The lecture enhanced the attendees’ understanding and awareness of industrialization. It enabled them to comprehend the environmental issues caused by industries. The event served as an eye-opening session for all participants.
