Report On NACDeC VI

Team Abhimanyu 6.0 from MVJ College of Engineering, Bangalore has secured Second position in the National Aerospace Conceptual Design Competition VI (NACDeC VI). NACDeC is an esteemed national-level competition organized by The Aeronautical Society of India (Design division and Mumbai Branch). This was the sixth edition of the competition with a problem statement to perform the conceptual design of an Air ambulance. This time ARTPARK was also involved in this competition along with Dassault Systems as the sponsor. The final presentation round was held at The Aeronautical Society of India, Bangalore on 12th August 2023, extremely experienced scientists and Professors of the Aviation and Aerospace industries of India were present at the venue as the jury member.

The competition was divided into four stages namely synopsis report round, Task -1 report round, Task-2 report round and final presentation round. The competition required specific skills from the Aerospace background some of which are Aerodynamic analysis, stability and performance analysis, Structural analysis and Navigation and Control systems. There were in total 39 teams which participated in this competition, after the various elimination rounds top 5 teams were called for the Final presentation round. Team Abhimanyu 6.0 which includes Team leader Sripriya K (4th year of Aeronautical engineering), Vivek S M (4th year of Aeronautical engineering), Prasanna R (4th year of Aeronautical engineering), Sagarika S (4th year of Aerospace engineering), Divyanshu Chaubey (3rd year of Aerospace engineering) and mentor Prof. Tamilselvam Nallusamy of MVJ College of Engineering presented their Conceptual design of the Air Ambulance. Team Abhimanyu of MVJCE has always been part of this esteemed competition and has been performing extremely well and securing the top two positions every time. By continuing the legacy of MVJCE, the team Abhimanyu 6.0 clinched second prize in NACDeC VI which was held on 12th August 2023. The Second position and winning amount of 1.5L rupees was shared between Team Abhimanyu 6.0 of MVJCE and Team Saphira of IIT Bombay. Abhimanyu team from MVJCE is significantly being winners in this prestigious competition from its inception in 2017.

The conceptual Design of the Air Ambulance designed by Team Abhimanyu 6.0 has salient features such as an Autonomous flight system, all-electric propulsion, embedded with all required medical types of equipment and VTOL with lift plus cruise configuration. This aircraft is designed for vertical takeoff from the site and to reach the emergency site hovering there while boarding the patient and taking them to the medical facility. This aircraft can accommodate three passengers including one patient and two paramedics.
