BOS Meeting

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized the Board of Studies meeting on 26th August 2023, at seminar hall 5. The meeting started at 10.00 am and concluded at 12.30 pm. The faculty of EEE department attended the meeting. The Meeting was presided by Dr. Soumya Mishra, HOD, EEE, MVJCE.

The following external BOS members were present in the meeting.

  2. Dr. Parimala R V, Professor and Head, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, BNMIT, Bengaluru (VTU Nominee).
  3. Dr. Srivani S G, HOD, RVCE, Bangalore.
  4. Mr. Naveen Kumar E, Test Lead, ABB India Global, Bengaluru (Member from industry).
  5. Mr. Selvakumar R, Alumni, Bangalore.

Dr. Soumya Mishra, HOD, EEE, MVJCE welcomed the BOS members and gave a brief information related to College, Autonomy and syllabus. Dr. Soumya Mishra, HOD, Department of EEE, welcomed the BOS members and explained the NEP 2022 scheme to the external BOS members and asked for suggestions.

Dr. Subbareddy recommended increasing the number of industrial visits for both students and faculty members. After each industrial visit, students are required to submit a comprehensive report. The syllabus should incorporate recent topics, and open-ended experiments based on these recent topics should be provided to the students.

Dr. Parimala R V expressed her appreciation for the syllabus format, which includes laboratory sessions, web links, and applications in each module. She also recommended the inclusion of new topics in subjects like measurements and electric motors.

Dr. Srivani G S gave suggestions to update the syllabus with new microcontroller and to update the laboratory with new equipment’s like for Electrical machine laboratory and also spoke about CO-PO mapping of the subjects.

Mr. Naveen Kumar suggested to include basics of coding subjects in both 1st and 2nd semester so that students can learn advanced coding subjects in higher semesters. He also suggested to include Smart sensors and systems and recent trends in the syllabus like BLDC motors, cooling techniques and protection of transformers.

Mr. Selvakumar R gave suggestions related to ability enhancement courses. Ability enhancement courses should be practical oriented rather just a power point presentation. PLC kits can be procured from the college so that students can work with them regularly and get well versed in their usage which helps them in getting placed in core companies.

OUTCOME OF THE MEETING:

The faculties of the EEE Department received valuable suggestions for corrections in the NEP 2022 scheme and syllabus from subject experts. These suggestions are instrumental in shaping the scheme and syllabus to align with current trends and industrial requirements.
