Aircraft Systems Testing Requirements and Certification Procedures”
The Departments of Aeronautical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering are organising an STTP by Sri Ramesh Kumar, Chief Manager, Flight Control System, HAL, LCA Complex. Focusing on the rapidly evolving domain of Aircraft Systems. Sri Ramesh Kumar led multiple government-funded projects in Aircraft research, design and development, bringing real-world insights and cutting-edge research to the country. The event will feature an STTP on ” Aircraft Systems Testing requirements and Certification procedures, highlighting the role of fly-by-wire systems, hydraulic systems, Avionics systems, and Landing gear systems, followed by a Visit to HAL, LCA Iron bird facility. Developing and certifying aircraft systems is a highly regulated and rigorous process, with stringent testing requirements to ensure safety and reliability. STTP is aimed at making the participants understand the procedures in certifying aircraft systems by regulatory bodies.
Title of the talk: “ Aircraft Structural Modifications”
Speaker: Dr. Mihir Mishra, Former General Manager, HAL
The Departments of Aeronautical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering are organising an insightful guest lecture by Dr. Mihir Mishra. Dr. Mihir Mishra focuses on Aircraft structural modifications involve deliberate changes to the load-bearing components of an aircraft to enhance performance, extend service life, meet regulatory requirements, or accommodate new operational roles. These modifications may include alterations to the wings, fuselage, empennage, landing gear, or engine mounts, and often require rigorous engineering analysis to ensure continued airworthiness. Structural reinforcements, aerodynamic enhancements, and cabin reconfigurations are common examples. Each modification must comply with aviation authority standards (e.g., FAA, EASA) and undergo substantiation through stress analysis, fatigue evaluation, and flight testing. As aviation technology evolves, structural modifications play a critical role in adapting legacy aircraft to modern demands while maintaining safety and reliability.
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering is organising a Two-Day Short Term Training Programme (STTP) on “Digital System Design using Altera FPGA” on 26th and 27th September 2025.
