Some of the Labs in the EEE department that help to shape our future Engineers:

Electrical Circuits Analysis Laboratory

Electrical Circuits Analysis Laboratory

The Electrical Machines Laboratory is one of the critical laboratories of the Electrical Engineering Department supported by IFB industries. The laboratory is equipped with conventional and modern Electrical and Electronics measuring equipment, various AC and DC Electrical Machines, and Transformers. This laboratory caters to Undergraduate Students’ need to quickly understand the basics and adapt to advanced experiments like Electrical Machine design and special Electrical Machines.

Transformers & Generators Laboratory

The Transformers & Generators Laboratory is one of the critical laboratories of the Electrical Engineering Department supported by IFB industries. The laboratory is equipped with conventional and modern Electrical and Electronics measuring equipment, various AC and DC Electrical Machines, and Transformers. This laboratory caters to Undergraduate Students’ need to quickly understand the basics and adapt to advanced experiments like Electrical Machine design and special Electrical Machines.

Microcontroller Lab

Microprocessors and Microcontrollers Laboratory helps scholars to develop their knowledge of processor architecture and programming skills. This laboratory houses the hardware, which incorporates 8085 Microprocessor trainer kits, 8086 Microprocessor trainer kits, 8051 Microcontroller trainer kits, interfacing cards, and software Keil-51. In addition, this laboratory provides hands-on experience to interface I/O devices, perform A/D and D/A conversions, digital design clock, traffic signal system, etc. The features and facilities available during this laboratory help the scholars try to do their projects enhance their knowledge of the newest trends and technologies. Students from other branches of engineering also use this laboratory and develop their skills within the field of Microprocessors & Microcontrollers and their applications.

Analog Electronic Circuits Laboratory

The purpose of the laboratory is to link the theoretical concepts of various analog electronics circuits with practical feasibility so that scholars can understand analog circuits and digital circuits in an exceedingly better way. Furthermore, this laboratory is beneficial for beginners to know the essential fundamentals of analog circuits. The lab is well equipped with analog electronic components, so students can fabricate their own circuits. The lab also comprises Analog and digital trainer kits so on facilitate verification of the results obtained through the fabricated circuits.

Switchgear And Protection Laboratory

The high-voltage laboratory is equipped with advanced equipment that can be used to test materials and study various high-voltage phenomena. The relay and high voltage laboratory is one of the essential laboratories of the EEE department. The laboratory consists of two parts. First, relay-based experiments are beneficial for identifying and eliminating a large number of errors. The second part includes high-voltage equipment, which works entirely at a high voltage of approximately 140 kV.

Control Systems Lab

In the control systems lab, students are exposed to the basics of control systems. The operation and characteristics of several control system components like compensators, controllers, error detectors etc. are studied and analyzed. Students get hands-on experience in understanding the functioning of a few control systems, including ac servomotor, dc servomotor, and synchro pair. The lab also enhances the coding skills of students. It enables them to analyze and understand the response of a system through hardware experiments and via simulation.

Power Electronics Lab

The lab aims to impart practical expertise in Power Electronics to Undergraduate Students by understanding the concepts and working on advanced Power Semiconductor Devices and Power Electronics Circuits. It is accordingly well equipped with equipment and trainer kits to teach practical fundamentals to high-level concepts. Furthermore, this laboratory is equipped with Single Phase and Three Phase AC to DC Converters, DC-DC Choppers, Single Phase AC Voltage Controllers, Cyclo-converters, Single Phase, and Three Phase Inverters. In addition to that, the UG scholars and faculties utilize this laboratory to carry out their project and research work, respectively.

Electrical Circuits And Measurements

In this Lab, students can create their electric circuits and do measurements on them. The students can use resistors, light bulbs, switches, capacitors, and coils in the circuits. The lab is equipped with AC/DC power supplies, ammeters, voltmeters, wattmeters, and ohmmeters, along with facilities where data can be collected. Finally, students can analyze the collected data by developing graphs of the record and use the graphs in the conclusion tool.

Signals and Digital Signal Processing Laboratory

The Signals and Digital Signal Processing (DSP) lab is a crucial component of modern engineering education, focusing on the analysis and manipulation of signals through computational techniques. In this lab, students gain hands-on experience with various signal processing tools and software, learning to filter, analyze, and transform signals for diverse applications such as audio processing, communications, and biomedical engineering. Practical experiments often include tasks like Fourier analysis, digital filtering, and signal reconstruction, providing a solid foundation in both theoretical concepts and practical skills essential for tackling real-world signal processing challenges.

Basic Electrical Engineering Laboratory

Basic Electrical Sciences Laboratory is used with the institute core course “Basic Electrical Engineering”. This lab can accommodate about 500 students during a semester. Located in 125 and 142, the labs have 35 fully equipped setup benches to carry out various fundamental experiments in Electrical Engineering. The lab is equipped with both AC and DC power supply with proper protection, supporting the students to experiment safely. The experiments are designed to expose students to the practical executions of the fundamental theories of Electrical Engineering.

Power System Simulation

Power System Simulation Lab helps students understand the concepts of power systems better and helps researchers research various power and energy systems problems. Power system analytical studies focusing on stability, reliability, renewable energy integration issues, transmission planning, and condition monitoring can be done at the power system lab. State of the art commercial and free analytical software tools for power system research are available in the lab for both undergraduate teaching and higher research studies. The notable commercial software available is MATLAB/SIMULINK, Mi-Power. The open-source power system analysis toolbox available at this simulation lab is PSAT, MATPOWER, Scilab.
