STTP on “A practical approach to modern measurement techniques using NI LabVIEW”

Overview

A STTP on “A practical approach to modern measurement techniques using NI LabVIEW” was organized by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering from 16th August 2023 to 18th August 2023 for the 4th Semester students. The resource persons for the program were:

Dr.M.Thilagaraj, Associate Professor, MVJCE Mr.K.V.Arunraguram, Captronic systems Pvt Ltd,Banglore

Total of 28 students from different branches participated in the programme. The welcome address and Inaugural speech were given by Dr. Sajithra Varun / HoD / ECE. The Venue for the STTP was NI LabVIEW academy (Room No 201).

16.08.2023: Modern Measurement Analysis Techniques using LabVIEW

All sessions on this day were handled by Dr.M. Thilagaraj for this STTP. He started the first week session with how LabVIEW is used in modern day measurement techniques and Applications of LabVIEW. The other topics that were discussed related to LabVIEW were numeric, Boolean palettes, string palettes, data types and data flow programming, modular programming, in-range and coerce function, select function, tasksheet solving on Day 1. This STTP provided the students with insights on the graphical programming environment compared to the other different coding languages. All students were able to relate the modularity of LabVIEW and they were interestingly involved in developing solutions to the tasks by using different logic.

17.08.2023: Programming Concepts in LabVIEW for Data Acquisition

The second day session was handled by Dr. M.Thilagaraj who explained key concepts like Polymorphism, Structures – Case structure, Sequence and timed structure, Debugging techniques and coercion dot, Formula node and expression node, Variables – Local and Global, Customizing Front Panel Controls – Controls, Type def, Strict Type def. During the session, the primary concepts that were discussed revolved around various sensors utilized in Data Acquisition (DAQ), coupled with distinct sampling techniques employed for efficient data acquisition

18.08.2023: Certification Training LabVIEW

The last day of the session was handled by Mr. K.V. Arunraguram, Captronic systems Pvt Ltd,Banglore. On this session the resource person delivered the lecture on the todays societal demand on LabVIEW. He also discussed the concepts of real time data collection using looping structures and he demonstrated the ELVIS II+ interfacing using MULTISIM. Some practical industrial projects were practically demonstrated for the students. He gave the students with the various level certifications available in LabVIEW and, he gave some practical tips and possible solutions for Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD) international certification exam.

OUTCOME:

All the participants got insights about the developments of LabVIEW happenings in the industry and the model of CLD international certification exam. They were able to understand how they need skills to face the industrial problems and planned to take LabVIEW for their carrier growth. Many students had got ideas for different projects and internships. The workshop concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony held for all participating students.
