Short Term Training Program on ‘Internet of Things Applications for Electrical and Electronics Engineering’

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized an STTP on ‘IoT Applications for Electrical and Electronics Engineering’, from 11th to 13th May, 2023. The 6th semester students from the departments of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Electronics and Communication Engineering, along with faculty members from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering participated in this training program.

Day 01: 11-05-2023

The event started at 10.00 am with welcome speech and guest introduction. Mr. Devadas Pai. B, CEO at Nano Cell Networks, handled both the sessions of this day. In Session 1, after giving an introduction to IoT, he continued to speak on the role communication networks in IoT, the use of mobile networks and Wi-Fi network in communication for different applications.

Day 02: 12-05-2023

The day’s programme started at 10.00 am, with welcome speech. Mr. Shailendra Chandrashekar, Staff Project Manager, TE Connectivity, Bangalore and his team took over the first session of Day 2. He started with a brief introduction on the topic and went on to explain about the serial communication with Arduino- SPI, IIC and UART

The afternoon session of Day 2 was handled by Mr. Nishanth, System Design Engineer, TE Connectivity, Bangalore. After explaining about IoT system model, he gave a hands-on session on the method of interfacing of LED and buttons with microprocessor for different applications.

Day 03: 13-05-2023

The morning session on Day 3 was also handled by Mr. Nishanth. He started with an introduction on smart grids and smart cities, and continued with the role of IoT in smart grids and smart cities. The afternoon session was handled by Ms. Shivangi, Team Lead, TE Connectivity, Bangalore. She gave a hands-on session on the method of interfacing of IR sensor, PWM-brightness control, PWM-Speed control etc. with microprocessor for different applications.
