The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized a Guest Lecture on ‘Latest Design Trends in Embedded Systems’. The session was organized on 9th May 2023, between 10.30 am and 12.00 noon, at Seminar Hall 4. The event was presided over by Dr. Soumya Mishra (HOD – EEE, MVJCE). Students of 6th and 8th semesters and the faculty of EEE department were the participants. Dr. Rathna G. N, Principal Research Scientist, IISc., Bangalore, was the Guest Speaker.

The event started with welcome speech and guest introduction. The stage was then handed over to Dr. Rathna. Dr. Rathna started her lecture with an introduction to Embedded Systems, explaining the difference between embedded systems and microcontroller.
Dr. Rathna continued her lecture, speaking about the applications of Embedded Systems in various fields and about the multi-languages and cores used in the Embedded Systems. She also explained about the projects in Embedded Systems that are going in IISc., the recent trends in Embedded Systems like SoC, Wireless Technology, User Interface, Automation and Security, and power consumption in the Embedded Systems.
Outcome of the Guest Lecture:
The students gained knowledge on the following:
- Basics of Embedded Systems.
- Transformation of Analog to Digital Systems.
- Latest trends and challenges in the embedded systems.
