Engineer’s Day Celebration and Invited Talk by Prof. Christian Klinke,Institute of Physics, University of Rostock Germany

In celebration of National Engineer’s Day, observed annually on September 15 in India, MVJ College of Engineering (MVJCE) organized a notable event on September 14, 2024. This day honors Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, a pioneering engineer renowned as the Father of Engineering in India. The event featured an invited talk by the eminent scientist Dr. Christian Klinke, highlighting significant advancements in nanotechnology and its applications.

Prof. Shashi Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, provided a comprehensive introduction to National Engineer’s Day. His remarks emphasized the contributions of Sir M. Visvesvaraya to engineering and his enduring legacy.

Following this, a video tribute to Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya was presented, showcasing his pioneering achievements and impact on the field of engineering.

Dr. Umamaheshwaran, Professor, Department of Electronics and Communication, extended a warm welcome to the gathering. His address set a positive tone for the proceedings, highlighting the importance of the day and the significance of the invited talk.

Dr. Rabeya, Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics and Communication, introduced the chief guest, Dr. Christian Klinke. She provided an overview of Dr. Klinke’s illustrious career and his contributions to the field of nanoscience and nanotechnology.

Dr. Christian Klinke, a distinguished professor at the University of Rostock, Germany, delivered an insightful presentation on his research. His talk focused on the colloidal synthesis of nanomaterials and their optoelectronic characterization. He elaborated on the physical and chemical properties of nanostructures and their integration into functional devices.

Dr. Klinke’s research spans various interdisciplinary fields, including nanoelectronics, catalysis, and materials science. His contributions have been recognized through numerous high-impact publications and awards, underscoring his pioneering work in nanoscience.

Dr. Umamaheshwaran honored Dr. Christian Klinke with a memento in recognition of his valuable contribution to the field and his participation in the event.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Ajyan K.R, Principal In-charge, MVJ College of Engineering. Dr. Ajyan expressed gratitude to the chief guest, and attendees, acknowledging their role in making the event successful. He also expressed his gratitude to  Mr. M J Balachandar ,the Chairman of MVJ College of Engineering for his constant support and encouragement.
