Welcome speech was given by Dr. Shima Ramesh Maniyath, Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics and Communication, MVJCE. The Principal welcomed the gathering and handed over the session to the HOD Dr. I. Hameem Shanavas, who presented the Autonomous 2021-22 Scheme as per NEP, Progress Highlights and Action Plan of the ECE Department.
The session was then handed over to Mr. Suresh S who shared his experience as a student in MVJCE. He suggested that as technology keeps getting obsolete in just six months, the faculty must keep themselves updated, and help students understand the changes.
Prof. C. Murali gave many suggestions for enhancing the syllabus – he laid special emphasis on introducing Dual degree program. He also advised the department to take CIE, Internship and Project evaluation seriously, and this should be based purely on the student’s performance. NPTEL credits can be considered for the students, thereby motivating students to take up NPTEL courses. Mathematics should not be common across the different streams, but must be as per the requirements of the particular stream. He also suggested the introduction of bridge course, if a prerequisite is required for electives. Prof. C. Murali opined that NEP must be implemented carefully. He counselled the department to contact CDAC for setting up IOT lab, and also conveyed his interest in presenting a Guest Lecture on ‘Overall aspect of 5G’.
The meeting concluded with the HOD’s assurance of taking up all the suggestions for improvement of the department. Finally, Prof. Divya Sugathan, Assistant Professor, gave the vote of thanks.
