The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized a Guest Lecture on Effect of Green Energy on the Indian Energy Sector. The session was organized on 13th January 2023, at Seminar Hall 4, from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm. The students of 3rd semester EEE, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and the faculty of the EEE department attended the event. The Guest Lecture was presided by Dr. P. Mahabaleswarappa, Principal, MVJCE and Dr. Soumya Mishra, HOD, EEE, MVJCE.
The event started at 2.00 pm with the Welcome Speech and Guest Introduction. Then Guest Speaker Mr. Ramesh Babu Darla, Senior Engineer, Power-CQT, Cisco Systems (India) Private Limited, Bangalore. took over the session. He first explained about the usage of renewable energy in the present power generation sector, and the various applications of renewables in different engineering fields. He also spoke about the challenges, the effects of green energy, component design factors, economic issues and case studies related to off-grid and grid-connected renewable sources operation in the Indian sector.
Outcome of the lecture
The students were able to
- Understand how renewable energy sources reduce greenhouse gas emissions, as a result of which, power supply is more reliable.
- Perform an initial design of a renewable energy system, analyse how changes in functionality in one component affect the other components of the system, and use laboratories and emulators of renewable energy systems to analyse relevant issues.
