The Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized an event entitled Guest Lecture On “lnsights of Replication Technology”, on 17th August 2023. The event was conducted in MV Jayaraman Auditorium. The event started at 11 am and concluded at 12.30 pm. A total of 225 students from all fourth semesters within the Department of Computer Science and Engineering actively participated in this event.
Chief guest Mr. Anil T Chacko, Manager at Cape Gemini company shared his Industry knowledge to the students about learning Replication Technology

The Oracle Database (also referred as Oracle RDBMS or Oracle) consists of a relational database management system (RDBMS) produced and marketed by Oracle Corporation. Oracle had become a major presence in database computing.
RDBMS (RELATIONAL DATABASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM)
The main focus was laid on the topics covering SQL (Standard query language) The SQL is completely based on RDBMS (Relational database management system). RDBMS is a database that stores data in form of tables/relations with rows and columns where each table shares at least one column with another table (there exists a relationship between one another). Here the rows record the data and columns store the attributes wherein there exists an unique key called primary key for access.

SQL (STRUCTURED QUERY LANGUAGE)
SQL is a sequential programming language to manipulate data. It is a non-procedural language which is combination of Data definition language (DLL) and data manipulating language(DMS) with Data control language(DCL) that lets you manipulate data.
Here always exists a client server relationship where in queries asked by clients are given responses by the server.
A short summary of operations that can be performed on a database using.
- SQL: executing, retrieving, inserting, updating, deleting, creating, setting permissions for databases.
- Most of the SQL database programs also have their own property extensions in addition to SQL standard.
The general syntax for getting data from database using SQL is:
Select * From Customers;
(The above code is for getting the records of existing customers to which various operations can be performed)
Let us consider the following example, in which a customer’s table is formed based on the supplies in a particular country and The table includes information such as the customer’s name, country code, and the number of orders received in association with the respective country code.
Students acquiring the knowledge of RDBMS
Thereby the session helps in learning of managing the database using SQL and securing the data using RDBMS
Faculty Coordinator of the event:
Prof. S. Krishna Narayanan (AP, Dept of CSE)
Outcome of the Event:
Through the brainstorm sessions of this event, the participants learnt about Replication Technology. It will surely be helpful as it is a part of database management system and helps in serving for security purposes for data.
