MATLITE Club Activity – Math – Mapping Treasure

The Department of Mathematics, MVJ College of Engineering organized a MATLITE Club Activity ‘Math Mapping Treasure’ on 11th March 2023 at room 316.

The event started at 8.30 am in room 316, with an introduction to the MATLITE Club event, ‘Math Mapping Treasure’. At this event, 10 groups of First-year students (with five individuals in each group) from various sections of Physics and Chemistry cycle participated actively. Prof. Kantha Rao, Principal Scientist, CSIR, Bangalore was the Chief guest for the Club activity.

‘Math Mapping treasure is an activity where the participants were expected to solve the mathematical problems, on giving the right answers, they were given with a set of riddles. These riddles would lead them to the next destination. The team which reaches the final destination in using minimum time were declared as ‘Winners’. The team which reached the destination next were declared ‘Runners’.

Based on the correct answers and the time taken, the winners and runners were declared. They were awarded with certificates and cash prizes.

Following are the details of the winner and runner details.

  • Bhuvana, Chithra, Maclin, Chinmay, Faiz from D section secured the first place.
  • Swetha G from Csection, Kushal Kotiyan from L section, Sharveshwar , Harshitha, Mohammed Zuber from B section secured the second place

Outcome of the Event

The activity enables an individual to work in a team. An individual can learn to solve mathematical problems in a short period of time. This activity also yields to improve the logical thinking of an individual. At the end of this event students can learn the importance of planning logical thinking.
