B.E. Electronics and Communication Engineering (Advanced Communication Technology)

Curriculum
  • The Advanced Communication Technology curriculum is geared towards providing the student with a strong foundation in the discipline, an exposure to and understanding of the wide-ranging applications of this technology, the skills of analysis and design for engineering new systems, and the competencies that will enable them to think out of the box and innovate, to address new and challenging problems.
  • The Advanced Communication Technology curriculum equips students with knowledge in the fields of Signal and Image Processing, Analog and Digital Electronics, Microwave Engineering, Antenna and Wave Propagation, Wireless and Fiber Optical Communication, Digital Image processing.
  • The second year curriculum provides a robust foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of the field. The 3rd and 4th semesters are structured with a total of 40 credits. The curriculum includes essential courses such as Analog Electronics, Digital Electronics, and Control systems, which are fundamental to understanding and designing the electronics circuits. Additionally, students gain hands-on experience through the courses communication systems and Digital circuits design. The semester also includes courses on Social Connect Responsibility, Biology for engineers and the exploration of universal human values. Ability Enhancement Courses are offered from the second year onwards, with options to select from 11 verticals / clubs to hone innovative thinking and creativity.
  • The third year focuses on expanding students’ understanding of Signal Processing, Artificial Neural Networks, Cryptography and Machine Learning. The semester also includes courses on Research Methodology and Intellectual Property Rights, along with environmental studies. In the sixth semester, students explore into the core courses like, Digital Image Processing, Antenna and Wave Propagation and Soft Computing. Both semesters are structured with 40 credits to provide a broad and balanced instructive experience.
  • In the final year, students delve into Computer Communication Networks Modeling & Simulation, gaining proficiency in image processing, Soft Computing tools and techniques. They also have the opportunity to choose from a range of professional and open elective courses to mold their learning experience to their interests and career goals. Students undertake Project, where they apply their knowledge and skills to a comprehensive project in advance communication technology. They also participate in a research or industrial internship and present a seminar, culminating their undergraduate studies with practical experience and academic rendezvous.
  • The curriculum includes a variety of elective subjects that allow students to explore niche areas and advanced topics such as: Wireless Sensor Networks, 5G Fundamentals and Architecture, Optical Communication, Soft Computing Techniques, Virtual and Augmented Reality, Networks and Cyber Security, Satellite Communication and Digital Image Processing.
  • The curriculum includes open electives from other engineering and science disciplines like Python Programming, Cyber Security, Introduction to Data Science, Ethical Hacking, Nano Science & Nano Technology, Smart Sensors and Systems for Industrial Applications and Automotive Engineering. These electives allow students to explore diverse fields, enhance their knowledge base, and integrate concepts from different areas of study, ultimately contributing to their overall development as well-rounded professionals.
  • Students pursuing a major in Advanced Communication Technology have the opportunity to earn an Honors degree or a Minor degree in specialized areas by accumulating an additional 18 credits. This provision aligns with NEP’s vision of offering flexible and specialized education paths.
  • The curriculum places significant emphasis on practical training and real-world experience. Students engage in extensive lab work, internships, and project-based learning, addressing societal and industrial problems. Students are encouraged to pursue certification courses from platforms like NPTEL, Swayam, MOOC and Infosys Campus Connect to supplement their formal education. These certifications help students stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in the field of Advanced Communication Technology.
  • The aim of the Advanced Communication Technology curriculum is to produce well-rounded professionals equipped with technical expertise, ethical values, and a scientific temper. By integrating theoretical knowledge with practical skills and emphasizing ethical and societal responsibilities, the Advanced Communication Technology curriculum at MVJCE prepares students to become competent and responsible engineers ready to tackle the challenges of the modern world.
