Curriculum
  • The B.E. Chemical Engineering (ChE) curriculum at MVJCE is meticulously designed to cover a broad spectrum of foundational and advanced topics in Chemical Engineering. This includes core areas such as Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat and Mass Transfer, Reaction Engineering, Process Design, and Control, along with rapidly evolving fields such as Biotechnology, Nanotechnology, and Environmental Engineering. Emphasizing theoretical knowledge and practical skills, the curriculum aims to equip students with the necessary tools to tackle contemporary engineering challenges.
  • The second year curriculum provides a robust foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of the field. The 3rd and 4th semesters are structured with a total of 22 credits each. The curriculum includes essential courses such as Chemical Process Calculations, Thermodynamics, and Reaction Engineering, which are fundamental to understanding and designing chemical processes. Additionally, students gain hands-on experience through the courses Mechanical Operations and Process Heat Transfer.
  • The third year focuses on expanding students’ understanding of mass transfer, instrumental methods of analysis, and process control and IIOT. The semester also includes courses on research methodology and intellectual property rights, along with environmental studies and the exploration of universal human values. In the sixth semester, students engage in process engineering and economics, chemical process equipment design and drawing. Both semesters are structured with 22 credits each to provide a comprehensive and balanced educational experience.
  • In the final year, students delve into Chemical Process Modeling & Simulation, gaining proficiency in computational tools and techniques for analyzing and optimizing chemical processes. They also have the opportunity to choose from a range of professional and open elective courses to tailor their learning experience to their interests and career goals. Students undertake Project, where they apply their knowledge and skills to a comprehensive project in chemical engineering. They also participate in a research or industrial internship and present a seminar, culminating their undergraduate studies with practical experience and academic engagement.
  • The curriculum includes a variety of elective subjects that allow students to explore niche areas and advanced topics such as: Petroleum Refining, Nanotechnology, Industrial Pollution control, Food Technology, Renewable Energy Technologies, Biochemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical technology, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Chemical Process Safety.
  • The curriculum includes open electives from other engineering and science disciplines like python programming, cyber security, Introduction to Data Science, ethical hacking, Sensor technology. These electives allow students to explore diverse fields, enhance their knowledge base, and integrate concepts from different areas of study, ultimately contributing to their overall development as well-rounded professionals.
  • Students pursuing a major in Chemical Engineering have the opportunity to earn an Honors degree or a Minor degree in specialized areas by accumulating an additional 18 credits. This provision aligns with NEP’s vision of offering flexible and specialized education paths.
  • The curriculum places significant emphasis on practical training and real-world experience. Students engage in extensive lab work, internships, and project-based learning, addressing societal and industrial problems. Students are encouraged to pursue certification courses from platforms like NPTEL, Swayam, and Infosys Campus Connect to supplement their formal education. These certifications help students stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in the field of Chemical Engineering.
  • The aim of the Chemical Engineering curriculum is to produce well-rounded professionals equipped with technical expertise, ethical values, and a scientific temper. By integrating theoretical knowledge with practical skills and emphasizing ethical and societal responsibilities, the Chemical Engineering curriculum at MVJCE prepares students to become competent and responsible engineers ready to tackle the challenges of the modern world.
