The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized a Guest Lecture on the topic EV motors and drives for two wheelers, and an Insight to EV adoption: User’s Perspective. The Lecture was organized on 6th November 2021, at Seminar Hall 6. The event started at 11.30 am and concluded at 2.30 pm. 3rd, 5th and 7th semester students and the faculty of EEE department attended the Lecture. The Guest Lecture was presided by Dr. P Mahabaleshwarappa, Principal, MVJCE, and Dr. Soumya Mishra, HOD - EEE, MVJCE.
The Speaker was Mr. Vijayendra R Agnihotri, Production Manager, Livguard Driver Train Pvt. Ltd. and Mr. Shravanth Vasisht, Entrepreneur and Researcher.
The event started with a welcome speech and guest introduction, following which the principal addressing the gathering. Mr. Shravanth Vasisht took over the first session of the Lecture, going into great detail about the invention of Electric Vehicles, their evolution, the need of adopting EVs, its advantages and disadvantages over gasoline vehicles, its economics, and user perspective to EVs and its adoption. He also explained about the barriers that are restricting the transition from gasoline vehicles to Electric Vehicles. He suggested how the transition to adopting EV can be made, how EV charging stations can be installed, the requirements for installing EV charging stations, and its economics.
The second session was hosted by Mr. Vijayendra R Agnihotri. He focused on the technical aspects of EV. He spoke about batteries and controllers, drawing attention to LBMC072122HK3A, the latest PMSM controller which is designed with FOC algorithm – the controller with arm control, maximum torque control and constant power control, 32- bit microprocessor with excellent operational capability and task processing ability. He then explained about BLDC motor, and its uses in EVs. He also enlightened the students regarding various government initiatives for promoting EV adoption, and initiating entrepreneurship in the area of EVs
The students were able to enhance their knowledge about EV motors and drives, and the need for adoption of EVs. They were motivated towards entrepreneurship in the field of Electric Vehicles.
