ISE and DS- Course Structure

The Curriculum of the B.E - Information Science Engineering and Data Science course focuses on various emerging technologies and industry-oriented topics, which teach students how to design, create and implement software applications, in order to solve real-world problems. The Curriculum, designed with 160 credits, has been framed, keeping in mind all the recommendations of NEP, with inputs and suggestions from experts in Industry and Academia, and after detailed deliberations of the Board of Studies.

The course focuses on subjects in a well-graded order, to first familiarize students with the basic engineering concepts, and subsequently move on to the core course which focuses on managing Information along with Computational Techniques and Informational Analysis. At higher semesters, students learn specialized subjects like Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Data science, IoT and its applications, Cyber Security and Block Chain Technology, and many more.

Along with these, students have the opportunity to study inter-department subjects as Open Electives. Through this Multidisciplinary education which is the focus of NEP 2020, students get a holistic view which will not only help them with their projects but also stand them in good stead in their future careers. It will also come to their aid when they do their internship, as familiarity with varied technologies can make them all-rounders and help them with their placements

As per the new guidelines of NEP, Ability Enhancement courses and Humanity courses have also been included in the curriculum, to work on their skillsets and transform them into well-rounded Engineers. The syllabus of Information Science and Data Science Engineering includes Mathematics-Brach (Is it ‘Branch’?) Specific, Hardware, Operating systems, Networking, Cyber security, Programming languages such as Java, R Programming and Python Programming, Design and analysis of algorithms, Machine learning and Artificial intelligence, Database Management, Software project management, Entrepreneurship, Cloud computing and Data mining.

The National Education Policy 2020 aims at grooming skilled, thoughtful, well-rounded and creative individuals. NEP 2020 also advocates developing character, ethical values, constitutional values, intellectual curiosity, scientific temper and creativity in students. Our Curriculum has been carefully crafted to fulfil these recommendations of NEP, so that our students will be able to face the society boldly, to have more meaningful and satisfying lives and work roles. At the end of their 4-year Engineering course, our students will transform into holistic individuals, acquiring both the necessary skills as well as the right values.
