DEPARTMENT OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE & MACHINE LEARNING

  • B.E. in AIML offered by the Computer Science and Engineering Department provides the budding engineers with a spectacular array of courses dedicated to frontiers in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI&ML) with a foundation of Computer Science & Engg. The 4-year full-time program presents exposure to hands-on technologies to create applications and solutions for the world that we live in. The curriculum focuses on the Foundations of Computational Mathematics, core areas of Computer Science, along with the latest advancements in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Core courses in Computer Science help students to drive them through the ever-changing IT requirements. The specialized areas of AI&ML are offered as minor specializations. The specialized areas of AI&ML are offered as minor specializations.
  • The second year curriculum provides a robust foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of the field. The 3rd and 4th semesters are structured with a total of 22 credits each. The curriculum includes essential courses such as Object Oriented Programming, Operating System, Data Structures and Applications, Computer Organization and Architecture, Design and Analysis of Algorithms and Python Programming and which are fundamental to understanding capabilities of computing and designing efficient software solutions. Additionally, students gain hands-on experience through the courses like UNIX SHELL Programming, .NET and C# Frameworks.
  • The 3rd year of AIML Engineering focuses on expanding students’ understanding of design principles and techniques and ability to apply these for developing solutions to human/societal problems. 5th semester includes courses on research methodology and intellectual property rights, along with environmental studies and the exploration of universal human values while building student’s theoretical and practical concepts on subjects like Computer Networks, Project Management and OOMD and Artificial Intelligence. In 6th semester, students develop the ability to independently investigate a problem which can be solved by AI and Machine Learning using python programming). Both semesters are structured with 22 credits each to provide a comprehensive and balanced educational experience.
  • In the final year, students delve into the field of Data Science, Computer vision and Big Data Analytics, gaining proficiency in computational tools and techniques for analyzing and optimizing solutions to real world problems using the concept of AI. They also have the opportunity to choose from a range of professional and open elective courses to tailor their learning experience to their interests and career goals. Students undertake Project, where they apply their knowledge and skills to a comprehensive project in AIML. They also participate in a research or industrial internship and present a seminar, culminating their undergraduate studies with practical experience and academic engagement.
  • The curriculum includes a variety of Professional elective subjects that allow students to explore niche areas and advanced topics such as: Computer Vision, Information Retrieval, Big Data analytics and Pervasive Computing.
  • The curriculum includes open electives from other engineering and science disciplines like Cloud Computing, Ethical hacking and Java programming. These electives allow students to explore diverse fields, enhance their knowledge base, and integrate concepts from different areas of study, ultimately contributing to their overall development as well-rounded professionals.
  • Students pursuing a major in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning have the opportunity to earn an Honors degree or a Minor degree in specialized areas by accumulating an additional 18 credits. This provision aligns with NEP’s vision of offering flexible and specialized education paths.
  • The curriculum places significant emphasis on practical training and real-world experience. Students engage in extensive lab work, internships, and project-based learning, addressing societal and industrial problems. Students are encouraged to pursue certification courses from platforms like NPTEL, Swayam, and Infosys Campus Connect to supplement their formal education. These certifications help students stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
  • The aim of the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning curriculum is to produce well-rounded professionals equipped with technical expertise, ethical values, and a scientific temper. By integrating theoretical knowledge with practical skills and emphasizing ethical and societal responsibilities, the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning curriculum at MVJCE prepares students to become competent and responsible engineers ready to tackle the challenges of the modern world.
